The Authorization Service helps consumers and companies manage authorizations granted to electricity market operators.
Authorizations may be needed for monitoring electricity consumption, comparing electricity contracts, managing load control, or using other energy services. The service allows you to grant, amend and terminate authorizations easily and securely.
The Authorization Service can be integrated into a service provider’s digital service path. This enables authorizations to be created seamlessly as part of the customer journey. The service provider can direct the customer from its website to the Authorization Service to review a newly created authorization request, which the customer can then accept immediately.
A company that needs authorization to provide its services can direct its customer to the Authorization Service to accept the authorization request.
You can grant an authorization to a company from which you would like to receive an electricity contract quote or to a company that provides electricity consumption tracking services.
You can view all authorizations you have granted and change their validity period or terminate authorizations no longer needed.
The Authorization Service replaces the previous procedures in which consumers created all authorizations independently in OmaDatahub and companies operating in Datahub reported authorizations from business customers directly to Datahub.
The Authorization Service is introduced to ensure that the management of authorizations complies with current legislative requirements. The service promotes transparency and non-discrimination in the use of data for all market operators. In addition, Datahub must comply with EU-level regulation, in particular Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/1162, which requires interoperability and transparent procedures for access to electricity metering and consumption data.
Previously, consumers created all authorizations independently in Oma Datahub, and companies active in Datahub reported authorization granted by their business customers directly to Datahub.
From 20 May 2026 onwards, both consumers and business customers confirm authorizations in the Authorization Service. As a result of this change, authorizations are always created with the customer’s active consent and are up to date and verifiable. The Authorization Service also improves data security and the customer’s ability to manage their own data.
In the Authorization Service, you can act on behalf of another person, a company or an organization using Suomi.fi e-Authorizations.
On the Suomi.fi e-Authorizations pages, under “Grant and request authorizations”, you can grant and request electronic mandates for the themes of your choice. Select “Viewing the details of electricity agreements” as the mandate theme. Once the mandate is valid in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations, you can use the Datahub Authorization Service on behalf of another person.
If a person cannot grant an authorization independently in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations, the authorization can be granted with assistance.
Acting on behalf of another person is not possible if the person has a non-disclosure for personal safety purposes.
More information on granting a mandate is available in the Suomi.fi e-Authorizations instructions.
Contact details for end-user support and advice on Suomi.fi e-Authorizations can be found on the Advisory service on Suomi.fi services.
You can represent a company if you have been granted a mandate for this in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations or if you have the right to sign on behalf of the company.
When you act on behalf of a company, your right to do so is automatically verified via Suomi.fi e-Authorizations using the Trade Register, the Business Information System, the Register of Associations or the Mandate Register (containing mandates granted in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations).
